IN THE 1960S, the Cold War was in full swing, the Iron Curtain stood as an impene-trable wall, jazz and rock and roll were banned in the Soviet Union, and new motorcycles were expensive. At that time, rocker culture remained completely unknown in the USSR and could not become part of Soviet society. Everything began to change in the mid-80s when the thirst for freedom and fatigue from the policy of isolationism swept most of the population, which led to the emergence of “Perestroika” – a state policy of openness to the Western world. The first Western films began to appear in cinemas, which became a window into another way of life, and “Perestroika” brought a lot of personal freedom, which led to the formation of the first subcultures in the So-viet Union and the very first of them - rockers, rebels on classic motorcycles.
